Hey guys, I'm from australia and i was first introduced to Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy whilst walking around a local bookstore. It was after reading the Twilight Saga that got me into the whole urban fantasy realm. But i have to say Richelle Mead's work is much sophisticated and imaginative and excuberant than Twilight, and hence i become attached to Richelle Mead's work. However, i believe VA appeals to me more than her other work for some reason. Perhaps the whole teen love story? And Team Dimitri for sure Can't wait for Spirit Bound! hopefully it's worth the wait. Not many of my friends understood me when i first started reading VA, they all thought it was another twilight "wannabe" series! haha but i proved them wrong. Nearly all the friends who've borrowed my collection are now in love with Richelle Mead's work! Certainly an achievement! I look forward to getting to know you guys.

Welcome Moonshine Yeah, VA being considered a 'Twilight wannabe' is a huge thing, for people who think Twilight is really bad, they assume it'll be just as much rubbish, why bother with it. For those who loved Twilight they think 'it can never be as good, it's just going to be trying to be Twilight when it can't possibly be it' so why bother. *sigh* happily, I convinced my 3 best friends to read VA, them all having adored Twilight. Em adored VA and realised its the story Twilight wanted to be, and has more or less gone of Twilight. Ruth still loves Twilight but thinks VA is one of the very best series ever, and totally adores Rose. Luce, I had to force VA on, I can't tell you how Twilight obsessed she is, and she didn't want to read it cause she had the attitude it couldn't possibly be as good (despite my repeated claims of it being 100x better). But she did (being a great friend) finally read it and admit that in her opinion, it's just as good. Which is high praise indeed from her, so it all worked out lol.

Folks from the RV forums already know me as a rabid Marc fan. Fav. males: Seth, Dimitri, Marc, Hawke (Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series). Fav. females: Georgina, Rose, Faythe. Fav. secondary: Carter, Derek, Ilium (Nalini's Guild Hunter series). For a long time, J R Ward was my absolute favorite author. And one day, I picked up Succubus Nights and that was it, I was blown away by RM's writing. I love how well-written her characters are, they are always true to themselves and feel real.

hi everyone, my names Jody and i am from England. I started reading when i was on matternity leave and had extra time on my hands and now just cant stop. I like my fiction super sexy with hot troubled male leads so Richelles just the ticket. Also gena showalter (atlantis and lords of the underworld ) J R Wards black dagger brotherhood series and Nalini Singh know how to get a whole load of great characters into their pages. Looking forward to any suggested reading material even though my bookcases shudder at the thought.
