Tee mentioned on the Succubus Shadows spoilers thread about recs for other books to read between releases, so I'm starting a Recs thread for other books. Primarily UF, but any genre welcome (btw if you want to talk more detailed on any series/author, please not here, start a thread for them) Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels series (one word: Awesome), The Edge series (different, but great) Patrica Briggs - Mercy Thompson series (about a Coyote shapeshifter, with werewolves, fae and vampires for sides) Rachel Vincent - Shifters series (about a flawed but awesome werecat and her Pride) Lili St. Crow - Strange Angels (Young Adult series but like Vampire Academy, dark, gritty and not limited to YA readers) Kelley Armstrong - Women of the Otherworld (diff narrators for the books, the werewolf ones being the best, but well worth reading) Jocelynn Drake - Dark Days series (kick ass vampire with the ability to wield fire) Keri Arthur - Riley Jenson series (werewolf/vampire hybrid, series doesn't start great, but gets awesome) Jenna Black - Morgan Kingsley (an exorcist who happens to share her body with the demon king) Jaye Wells - Sabina Kane (vampire/mage hybrid assassin with a lot to prove) Okay, that's enough from me for now

Cem, Thanks for starting this thread. It's great to have a place to give some recs, especially when we have such a large pool to pick from in UF. I'll give you some of my favorites, off the top of my head. Kim Harrison, The Hollows series (Rachel Morgan series) Harrison is my personal UF favorite. She says she got the idea for the series by taking the whole 'a pixie, a vamp and witch walk into a bar' joke to a whole 'nother level. This series is amazing and Harrison's world building is imaginative and unique. Really, really love this series. I concur on the Kelley Armstrong series. That one sucked me in from word one. I also love Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires series. She makes the vamps the not so good guys. YA and worth the read. I polished off the series in about a week, but she's got more coming. My guilty pleasure series is the Sookie books, but I think that's mostly because I adore the characters, especially Eric and, well, I can't stop watching True Blood. I will read absolutely anything Neil Gaiman writes. My personal, all time favorite, is 'American Gods.' Let's just say if his protag, Shadow Moon, were real, I'd so be stalking him. Melissa Marr also has a great YA series. All about faes and their courts with tattoos thrown into the mix. Carrie Ryan's Forest of Hands and Feet is perfection. Haven't picked up her second one, Dead Tossed Waves, but it's certainly on my list. Okay, so I think I've done my damage here. Please, guys, if you have recs, send them this way. I'm perpetually looking for some good reads, especially good UF. Smooch, Tee

Haha, well then if you've not yet read Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series and Richelle's Vampire Academy ones, they should be top of your list. They are Amazing. The first Kate book is a bit slow, and not great, (in the authors own words its 'meh') but book 2 is way better and 3 is completely awesome. About as perfect as a book can be. On amazon.com Magic Strikes (book 3) has over 100 reviews averaging at 5 stars. It doesn't have a review below a 4. That should give some idea to it's greatness And for me, the only series that rivals it, is Vampire Academy. They're my two top fave series ever. I like the Morganville books, but I don't love them. I read them and always feel they're lacking a bit in some way. *shrugs* Sookie, I couldn't get on with either, or Rachel Morgan. Though with the latter, I don't know why. Decent plot, decent characters, just couldn't connect with Rachel, so found it really hard going. Havn't managed to finish the first book yet, and I started it about 9 months ago or something lol. And while there are aspects of Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series I like, I dislike a lot more of it. *shrugs* will finish the series anyway. Good to hear another recommendation for Carrie Ryan's Forest, I've got it sat on my TBR shelf, probably going to read it later this week. Looking forward to it!

Both of you guys have list great recommendation! I've started thinking that 3 of my favorite series, are ending in the next year or so: Richelle Mead's VA and Succubus Series and Rachel Vincent's Shifter Series. I thought to myself, what am I going to fill the void with. I've picked up all of Patrica Briggs books. I also picked up the first book in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress Series.

The first two books in the Night Huntress series, I adore! They're really awesome. The next two I dind't like so much, but they were still a good read. Should have put them on the list, cause not a fave or not, they're worth reading.
It is a bit crazy how many great series are ending within the next year. VA, Succubus, Shifters, Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games (which I also should have mentioned, they're YA and more futuristic than UF but SO Good!!!) and Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson series. Plus, Jenna Black's Morgan series has just finished too. *sigh* sad, but better then end on a high than get written in to the ground!!

My favourites? The Kate Daniels Series - Andrews; The Hunger Games - Collins; VA - Mead; The Black Magician Trilogy - Canavan.
Those I can read over and over again. They're my absolute favourites. I haven't delved much into Adult lit though. Of the ones I mentioned only Andrews' series is Adult. Oh, I really love Vincent's Shifters series as well. I stage internal arguments with the protag who seems to grate on my nerves more often than not but it's hard not to love her man. Oops.
And Caine's Weather Warden series deserves a mention. Just as I thought I might as well drop it because of the wait between books, Cape Storm was released. And baby, did that not blow me out of the water! I loved it. Completely.

*slaps self* I'm a moron. Totally forgot to mention The Black Magician Trilogy too. *sigh* Awesome series. Not UF, but (obviously) involves magic. Is awesome. Can't wait for the spin off trilogy!!

I have read all listed with the exception of the Morgan ones by Jenna Black (but I do have the first one sitting on my shelf waiting to be read!) and the Black Magician ones which are already on my to buy list from Cem's recomendation a long time ago! I am racking my brain trying to think of others that I really like that have not already been listed and my mind is drawing a blank! But just to put it out there my top 5 at the moment (in order! but it switches depending on latest book) would prolly be- Kate Daniels (Ilona Andrews) Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins) Mercy Thompson (Patricia Briggs) Shifters (Rachel Vincent) and Vampire Academy (Richelle Mead...obviously!) ;d

I would like to recommend The Chronicles of Elantra series by Michelle Sagara. I've only read the first one so far and it was brilliant. It's in a similar style to Maria V Snyder who I would also recommend. Her study and glass series are brilliant. Haven't got round to reading Inside Out yet though! Vampire Babylon by Chris Marie Green is also a good read in my opinion. And Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent - also very good!

Hey would anyone mind recommending me a book? You guys have made a great list, but I'm not sure where to start. I read the first Shifter Series book and didn't like it and I just got the first Strange Angels book. Is there a series similar to the Georgina Kincaid series? That's my favorite. Thanks!

I read the first Shifter Series book and didn't like it Blasphemy! *gasps* Hahaha, only kidding. Give it a chance if you ever have time. Honestly, I actually hate it at times because of the protagonist it drives me insane and makes me cry but it has this really hot mexican werecat that makes reading completely worth it... Yeah. And that's how I found out about these forums and the moderators etc. etc. It's a great series to discuss. Um, The first of Strange Angels is good for YA. Anything like Georgina Kincaid ... The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, maybe? Rachel kicks butt and the series has hot scenes. I've only read the first three books. Cassandra Palmer series? By Karen Chance. Another ass-kicking female protag with steamy scenes and vampires etc. [One of my favourites that isn't quite like Georgina Kincaid at all is The Kate Daniels series. I love it, I love, I love it. Yeah, try it out if you haven't already.]

Thanks Janeeandgun. To be honest, I liked the first half of the first shifter series book. After the escape though, I just thought it dragged a little, but everyone seems to really like them so maybe I'll read the next one and see if I can get more into the series. I'm definitely going to look into the the books you recommended. Waiting for all the new RM books are driving me crazy! Thanks again.

Hey kenkermad03, I know what you mean about the Twilight series. I'm 22 and like my Vampire romance novels with a little sex and violence. Try the Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance. Janeeandgun recommended it to me and I loved it! Hope you will give it a chance. Happy reading!
