Since I'm not caught up to book 5 of the series, yet, I'll just have to keep starting threads as I work my way through the series. I'm on the last chapter of Succubus on Top, but I couldn't wait to start a discussion about it. It has all the same elements as the first book, and then some. Here's where some spoilers start: I love the two concurrent plot threads. One with the mysterious drug that is affecting Doug and other human friends of Georgina's, and the seduction of Dana by Bastien. I have to admit being partial to the Bastien plot thread for two reasons: 1) I love Bastien as a character, and I hope to see more of him in future installments. 2) The character of Dana intrigued me. I enjoyed the interplay between her and Georgina, all the way up through the climax (no pun intended). The fact that Saul/Soma survived just adds another potential repeat antagonist to the list (along with the Nephilim from Succubus Blues).
That's my 2 cents worth for now.

Personally I wasn't too keen on Bastien. I didn't hate him or anything, and he certainly made things interesting and gave us a chance to see a different side of Georgie, but for some reason, I just didn't like him all that much. Not the first time I read Nights or the second. His interplay with Dana though? That made me laugh.
Re the Nephilim from Blues, Roman, I am so in love with him. Can't help it. I just am. lol

Of all the Succubus books, this is my least favorite. But being my least favorite, doesn't mean it was bad. I just felt that I didn't connect emotionally with this book as much as I did the others. I was also pretty neutral when it comes to Bastien. I just didn't find him as endearing as the other characters that RM writes. He does some bad things, and I believe that he was sorry for 'tricking' Georgina into sleeping with him. His behaviors through out the book, mostly annoyed me. I know in the end he has his reasons, but he still did what he did. Unlike some of the other characters, I could care less if he pops back into Georgina's life.

I second that about Bastien. Heat is my least fave of the 5 books by far, but I'll say nothing about why here

I love Roman too!!! I'll admit to thinking he was pretty sus in the beginning of blues but that's just a discussion for a different thread. Hmmmm... Again, it took me a while to get started with this book. It might have something to do with age but I can't connect with Georgina. Her experiences and thought processes are just too foreign and a tad too desperate for my tastes. I've come to like the GK series better than the DS series but I feel kinda iffy and detached when I read either series. Honestly, I don't remember much detail, I didn't pick up in much of the build up and the end was a tad too dramatic. But I can only speak for it wholistically seeing that I haven't bought the books and read this about nine months ago....

I say, keep going with it. I really liked the series first time around, but last month I re-read books 1-4 and found I enjoyed 1-3 a whole lot more the second time. Book 4 I was iffy on first time around and while I didn't dislike it more the second time, I found I really stuck by my first opinion: okay, but bit filler-ish and setting up for the rest of the series. Book 5 though, is very awesome!!
You may not like the series more, but I love it so of course I'm going to encourage you to read the rest of it lol

Ya, keep with the series. Book 2 is the low point for me too. I'm extremely happy I stuck with the series. It may just be my current favorite!
