Since I'm new and read this very recently, I suppose that I'm in a good enough position to kick off a discussion.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this series or the characters, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. To give a little background I'm a fan of the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton and the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison.
First off, I like that this series centers around the concept of angels and demons, though vampires and other mythological creatures factor into it. I think this is a refreshing perspective.
Second, I also like that it's not hard-boiled mysteries, all-out action or bodice ripping romances. I can get that from the dozens of other urban fantasy series available in bookstores. I like the pacing and concept of observing Georgina's day-to-day life with a sprinkling of the above elements.
Third, I really like the characters. Georgina is my favorite, of course. Jerome and Carter are a close second. I mention them together because I love the interplay between the two of them. For anyone who likes the idea of angels and demons being friends and working together, give "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman a try.
That's my 2 cents worth for now. Hope to see more activity on the forums.

I think I more or less agree with all that! I read Richelle's Vampire Academy series first (very warily, because the last thing I wanted was anything like Twilight but it sounded decent, turned out it was amazing and nothing at all like Twilight), then decided to give this series a try. I dropped the Anita series because, for me at least, there was just too much sex in the later books and the last thing I wanted was another series when each book was just sex scene after sex scene. And being about a sex demon, well, you can see why I was cautious.
But by the end of Blues I was hooked. VA is still easily my favourite of Richelle's three series, but Georgie isn't too far behind it. I love Georgina's character, how she trys to do right by men, as much as she can. I like how she struggles with what she is, despite having been it for so long. And I love how she has a real day-to-day job as well, and it's not just something mentioned in passing, it's something that is part of the story, something that really matters to her.
I love how Carter and Jerome play off each other too, no denying they're funny. But I can't say I particularly like Jerome as such. I totally love Carter though. He's just too awesome. lol

It actually took me a while to settle into this book. I find it hard to read past Georgina's longing, it's almost even angsty in my opinion, for something more than just being a succubus. It's so thick during her flashbacks that they affect how I see her present self. I'm also not a fan of the whole "living off mortal pleasure" idea. I kinda have to skip every sex scene that Georgina experiences for the sake of surviving. I haven't read SBlues in quite a while but I remember my favourite characters were Carter and Roman. Jerome seems like a jerk but I guess that's just part of his charm.

Most of my past reading in this genre come in the form of vamps and shape shifters. I was excited by the thought of something new. I've always liked the idea of the succubus. It just kind of turns the tables on men.
I think I was hooked from the beginning. I loved Georgina and Seth as characters. The scene where they first meet, is one of my most favorite scenes in the series(giggles......see my quote below). I really enjoyed the humor RM uses in this series. The sex angle doesn't bother me either, remember I also come from an LKH/Anite Blake reading background. Roman and Carter also hooked me early on.

I think I just about second all of that. I'd read a lot of LKH's work previously, and dropped it because of it turning in to long run-on sex scenes, so I was cautious first reading this cause I wanted an actual story. Happily, that's exactly what there is. I love my shifters, and vamps, but from time to time it's really nice to read about something different. Plus I love the humor in this series and the mystery that surrounds Georgina, despite how open she is about some things, we know very little detail of her past.
And yes, that first scene between Seth and Georgie is priceless. Completely love it! Roman and Carter are awesome side characters as well.
